Pharmalys Laboratories: Where Swiss Innovation and Humanitarian Heart Meet to Create the Best Baby Formula

Research 10-03-2025

At Pharmalys Laboratories, we believe that every baby deserves the best possible start in life. That's why our team of scientists is constantly working to develop new and innovative baby food products that meet the highest standards of quality and nutrition that we can share with the world.

Experts in the field of infant nutrition, the scientists at Pharmalys Laboratories work closely with pediatricians and other healthcare professionals to ensure that our products are aligned with the latest scientific research. We also invest heavily in research and development, so that we can stay at the forefront of the baby food industry.

“We don’t stand still, but look every day at how and where we can make our social contribution to people’s global health,” says Hager Meherzi, who is the Medical Affairs Director at Pharmalys Laboratories. “The research and development area is therefore given a lot of importance in the company.”

Pharmalys Laboratories is headquartered in Switzerland, a country that serves as a world leader in innovation and collaboration between government, industry, and academia. This environment fosters the development of new ideas and technologies, which Pharmalys Laboratories leverages to create innovative baby food products that meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Our team of experts at Pharmalys Laboratories comes from a variety of backgrounds, including medicine, science, nutrition, and engineering. And in this Swiss environment, known for its precision and high standard, our experts thrive. The diversity of cultural expertise also allows our experts to develop innovative products that meet the needs of babies and families around the world.

Leading the Way in Developing Baby Food for Special Needs

As one of the company’s internal innovation drivers, Hager Meherzi also helps ensure the constant development of new ingredients that support babies' health in various circumstances.

“One of our focuses, for example, is on developing baby and toddler food for children with special needs, such as being born premature or with a milk protein allergy,” says Hager Meherzi. “We have special products in our range that also make optimal nutrition possible for these children. At the same time, we are continuing to research these areas in order to constantly expand our offering. Even though we are already one of a few – or even the only – brand in many countries that offers this type of solution.”

This kind of research and development is especially important because premature babies are at risk for a number of nutritional deficiencies, including protein and iron deficiency. Research has shown that feeding premature babies with a high-protein, high-iron formula can help to improve their growth and development. Additionally, babies with milk protein allergy cannot tolerate the milk proteins found in cow's milk. Research has shown that feeding babies with milk protein allergy with a hypoallergenic formula can help to manage their symptoms and support their growth and development.

Transferring knowledge beyond company boundaries

Pharmalys Laboratories is also committed to the professional development of its employees and the sharing of its knowledge with the broader healthcare community. Our company regularly organizes seminars, congresses, and further training courses on topics related to baby food and nutrition. This helps ensure that our employees have the skills and knowledge they need to develop and market innovative baby food products, and that other healthcare professionals are aware of the latest research and developments in the field.

As a company privileged to be based in an economically strong country, it is our mission to share our information with those less fortunate. We know that babies born in some of the least developed countries are more likely to be affected by malnutrition. This is due to a number of factors, including poverty, lack of education and conflict and displacement.

“We clearly see ourselves as pioneers in many areas related to baby food and scientific communication,” says Hager Meherzi. “It is important for us to use this position in the interests of the children’s health, and that also means sharing our knowledge.”

Research on nutrition for babies is ongoing, and new findings are being published all the time. This research and the work of our expert team are helping to improve the nutritional care of babies around the world and to ensure they have the best possible chance of growing and thriving.
